Emily is skilled at communicating ideas, bringing projects to life, and leading initiatives.
Emily is also an experienced food and sustainability educator and focusses on practical, industry-relevant research. Emily has taught and developed learning materials for foodservice management courses at a University faculty level as well as for environmental outreach programs for youth in the community.
Emily’s industry research centres around environmental sustainability in foodservice, particularly on narrowing down the barriers to getting from point A to point B and how to overcome these hurdles as an industry.
Emily is also a versatile speaker, has conceptualized and led a sustainable food systems conference, completed a fellowship course with the Ellen McArthur Foundation, has reviewed food innovation initiatives and sustainability cases, and works closely with many food system sustainability organizations.
Rebecca Gordon

Rebecca has a background in restaurant operations, research and project management.
Rebecca’s work with the University of Guelph Sustainable Restaurant Project showed her the importance of sustainability in restaurants.
While working as the General Manager of one of Canada’s first B Corp certified restaurants, Rebecca implemented many practices to improve the well-being of her team members and reduce the environmental footprint of the restaurant. She has been able to see firsthand the business case for sustainability.
Rebecca is an expert on restaurant work conditions. She was an organizer with the Canadian Restaurant Workers Coalition and conducted research on how work conditions can impact the motivation and retention of employees. Rebecca has lobbied politicians across Canada, presented to the Senate of Canada and she is a prominent spokesperson in the media addressing the need for better work conditions.
